You wish like hell that Brooke could just disappear and take all her crazy with her, leaving the Royal men to heal. You ache a little bit every time Ella fights her attraction to Reed, and pine over Easton’s obvious Mommy issues.
This series is unabashedly dramatic and full to the brim with inappropriate relationships and improper sexual entanglements. I’ll stop there with the analysis to keep this review as spoiler-free as possible, just know that Broken Prince is every bit as deliciously soapy as Paper Princess, and I mean that in all the best ways possible. This book wouldn’t have been nearly as enticing a read if forgiveness had come easy. They hold him accountable and it takes a long while for him to earn his way back into their good graces. I love that neither Ella nor Easton immediately forgive Reed for his actions in Paper Princess. Suffice it to say, Ella and Reed and Easton do not disappoint in Broken Prince. This frantic beating thing can’t be good for my health. It has me even more anxious for the third (and final?) book in the Royals series to hit the shelves, just so my heart can return to its regular scheduled pace. Oh how naive I was! I should have known that the ladies behind Reed’s creepy late night non-tryst would have an even crazier ending for the second book. Reed and Ella are just the beginning of the drama, as you have to add in Easton’s penchant for gambling and general trouble, Brooke with her manipulative tendencies, the ongoing mystery of exactly who Gideon is and why he does what he does, and last but never least that late in the game surprise character appearance in Broken Prince that definitely had my mouth gaping in shock.Īfter the ending of Paper Princess, I didn’t exactly expect for the cliffhanger in Broken Prince to be nearly as anxiety-inducing. The Royals series has proven to be a fast-paced thrill ride jumping from one crazy twist to another.
